One of the MAJOR assets of online leaning is the HUGE # of resources available. And let me add: DON'T HESITATE to contact me if you have questions beyond today.

49:50
yes, that’s a great one

Could you discuss strategies with distance learning especially for K-5?

58:39
my connection appears to be unstable and freezing occurrin

01:00:35
I work with the very young here in Alberta. Our special need kids, aged 3.5 -5.5 started their online learning sessions this week with their development assistants and for my personal families, all went well. I’m looking to enrich their experience with field trips suitable for them? It would be great if there was some interaction. We use zoom and are just learning to work with links!

01:01:27
My daughter is in 3rd grade. Her teachers are doing a good job on engagement. They are doing a question of the day, 2 synchronous times for the students to ask questions, but finding they are just coming on to connect with teachers and peers, and having some gamification tasks that they students are really enjoying! All the academic items are due at the end of the week to not overwhelm them. I would love to see them add fieldtrips into the mix!

01:04:24
in Bangladesh a tv channel only for broadcast National Parliament session.,but now this National tv channel have started to broadcast video classes for Grade 1 to 10

thanks Janet Major

01:07:44
Recognize that there is wealth of expertise of USDLA… AT this special point in time, I wonder what kind of new strategy to actively link different audience strands with the USDLA experts … ???

01:08:15
Yes, go noodle is great

01:08:32
yesgreat

01:08:32
So, in math and stats courses, any suggestions on how to engage students?

01:09:09
People are overwhelmed and have them search websites is another task… how to have USDLA experts organized as ‘consultants.’

01:09:16
where can we find the template for jeopardy?

01:09:36
@Gil - use break out rooms during synchronous sessions so that students can together in small groups to solve problems

01:10:37
yesgroup learning can solve the problems

Yes, I watch a webi

01:17:49
I watched a webinar on shorts clips for rewards to keep kids engaged

01:18:49
I provide a walking tour video (they are a little long but so nice) an engagement activity that has nothing to do specifically with the course. I believe the following YouTube video could be applied to geography or history classes also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzjxFCqT-40

01:20:26
empathy is critical

01:20:28
thanks Romana Banks

01:21:52
Agreed - we need to be empathetic an understanding that we are in a transition to a new normal

01:23:33
absolutely, caring and understanding are essential👍

01:24:04
I am hoping that the idea of empathy goes on even after this is all over. It is so hard to always know what all your students or employees are going through, so we should always listen and determine how they can be successful!

01:24:59
@Md.Ahsan, you're welcome!

01:25:01
yeswe shall overcome

01:26:40
Absoutley, Janet! I feel the same here in Chicago. It highlights the lack of internet access and inequity for access to computers for students of all economic and ethnic backgrounds.

01:27:43
Yes - the digital divide has really had the light shown on it...

01:28:01
Brigitte Blachere, from Smithsonian Associates, had to dash but says thank you and goodbye

01:28:18
I am working with the Dallas Children's Theater to see how they can be relevant and the issue of inequality came up in our conversation. how can we make sure that ALL students have access to the arts! It is exciting to think about where this can all go!

01:28:19
I think we are where a lot of people will be going to

01:28:22
Yes, it's a pleasure and honor to help support people who are new to the distance education field. It's been so interesting to see elearning/distance learning be all over the news as a NEW concept!

01:28:39
We need to rethink some assumptions… Who are the learners and their ‘learning guardians.’ Many people at all levels are bringing inappropriate assumptions to the new situation. I am observing unfair demands on the educators for working remotely…

01:29:35
excellent Webinarthanks to organizer

01:30:14
Erica can you post them, or better email them out with this recording please.

01:31:01
We need to be educators, not entertainers

01:31:04
Do you offer worksheets and materials that teachers can use? (i.e. worksheet for a zoo visit or a particular museum at the different educational levels)?

01:31:33
I appreciate the constructivist approach to learning - purposeful curriculum where the learners do something with content and experience…. and then share… Thank you Erika

01:32:30
i read an easter story over 3 sessions, to keep it short and simple, kids coloured along with the colours they could see in the story

Yes, good point to have a script to use while showing field trip

01:35:45
I guess for new teachers, they are already overwhelmed by the amount of conversions... so having a "template" that teachers at look at and modify from is always helpful.

01:36:09
Thank you. Great information that I can use with my class.

01:36:45
thanks everyone

01:37:02
it would be great to have a webinar on tech tools to use along side the different programs!!
