Welcome to everyone-- I'm looking forward to these Friday meetings ... and presenting one of them:)
Can the chime be muted as well?

Love the chimes: folks are coming to US!
@Rhonda ..I have a friend who has 4-kids (age 5-10) that are now learning at a distance from home ..after day 2 she messaged me and said: “How do I get these kids transferred out of my class!” E
That's hilarious Erika!
@Erika, that is great! Yes, many parents are trying to figure this out as well with their kids!
I have been deluged from companies and schools needing help on how to teach / learn online.
@valay ..I’m still laughing about it..super funny “-
@Simon ..laughter is the best medicine..glad to have made you smile..makes my day..ty! Erika
With the increase in use of remote access, are the networks and company networks able to handle the increase in the demand for bandwidth? UVA more than double their system..
yay turned off the chime - please let me know if you want it back on :)
William, I think that is a great question and we may not know the answer until it happens!
In Georgia, where al K-12 schools have been shut down, most teachers have embraced the flipped classroom, which has proven to be quite successful with widespread adoption.
@Jolly ..that’s great news..ty for sharing! Erika
Our school district is closed right now and we are going to Google Classroom for the time being with synchronous meetings for students to talk to the teachers.
@Rhonda..that’s great..most kids love their teachers and being able to see them over video is so helpful in terms of keeping things as normal as possible ..or adjusting them to the ‘new normal!” —Erika
we're seeing your presenter view, in case you didn't intend that
Yes, Bill networks are being seeing the demand.
Bill asked about the demand of having everyone online….and yes the demand big
@Pat great analogy!
Pat...sort of like this?
Good call folks
Makes sense to reschedule 😊
Will 2020 award winners be announced publicly before September?
No - presenter view
@Janet I know this is off topic, but I really like that colorful brick background. I need to get something like that for my class videos!
For those of us that have registered for the May conference and cannot attend in September due to schedules, do we get a full refund on the conference registration we have paid?
@Alison, yes, we will publish the award winners before September. We will keep the award winners updated on what is happening!
Rhonda - that would be great.
@Rhonda, thank you!
I look forward to helping out!
Sounds great! Thanks for putting this together.
What about accessibility?
Ha -- I have 10 years of Distance Learning columns I can share :)

Supporting the request to address Accessibility
Kind thanks to our hosts and everyone!!!
Just fyi, I am on the board of the Federal Gov. Distance Learning Association.
Adobe Connect is such a tool...provides for student-centered design and can easily handle hundreds of attendees
If your school has a contract with Microsoft for Office365 you probably also have a license for using Microsoft Teams for videoconferencing
will Teams work with people outside your org, though?
A great deal of webcasting platforms out there that are more than acceptable - comes down to needs and your overall workflow
As w/all instructional technologies..it’s all about the most cost effective approach based on use-case scenarios —Erika
@Jennifer, I'm not sure. It may with what is going on in this time! But, that is definitely a Microsoft question!
I have had good luck with Teams, Google, and WebEx, and Collaborate. They are all firaly user friendly
@Jennifer, I have teams open right now as that is how my office is communicating. I just opened a chat with someone outside of my organization

Here’s a link to an online directory (aka the mother lode) of free online professional journals in the public domain: https://doaj.org/ . And here’s the link to MERLOT: https://www.merlot.org/merlot/
I have to jump off, but thank you for everything. Janet, let me know when you want to get together!
Janet - I just found out the Verbit (one of our sponsors) is including their product with Zoom for those that are using Zoom.
I need to go support another training for professors. Great stuff!
One of the most important e-learning design component is designing for a “learning activity” that provides for “formative feedback” (Robert Gagne 4th event of Nine Events of Instruction).
I need to bring the cord. I am about to lose power:)
Yes, indeed Jolly ..it’s all about communication and interaction
teaching 4 Masters courses in Instructional Design & Technology
Actually, in this new environment, instructional medial selection is thrown out the window. Basically, the only “go-to” instructional media is online learning.
